The popular TV travel host Samantha Brown is sharing the love with Colorado Springs. Olympic City USA will be the latest destination featured on Samantha Brown’s Places to Love. The episode, sponsored by Visit Colorado Springs, premieres nationwide Feb. 12 and will air on Rocky Mountain PBS on Saturday, Feb. 19.
Places to Love is dedicated to seeking out the little-known spots and haunts where small business owners create a unique experience for locals and visitors alike. Since 1999, Brown has hosted such shows as the Travel Channel’s Great Vacation Homes, Girl Meets Hawaii, Passport to Europe and many more. She began hosting and producing Samantha Brown’s Places to Love on PBS in 2018. The show has won an Emmy for Outstanding Travel/Adventure Program, and Brown has been awarded an Emmy for Outstanding Host.
Brown’s visit to Colorado Springs took her all over the Pikes Peak region. Her show will feature some of the area’s most popular destinations and attractions, such as The Broadmoor, Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak via The Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway, the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum and Manitou Springs. But she also highlights stops at colorful small businesses, such as Colorado Ski Chairs, the Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center, Lucky Dumpling and Atrevida Beer Company.
“There was a lot of hard work and planning that went into this shoot,” said Amy Long, chief innovation officer at Visit Colorado Springs, in a press release. “We had so much fun showing the crew around the Pikes Peak Region, and we’re excited to bring more national awareness to our destination.”
Originally set for 2020, the filming and production of this episode was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was able to take place safely in July of 2021.
Tune in to watch Brown travel to the summit of Pikes Peak, howl with wolves, grab a local brew and more.
