Mountain Metropolitan Transit (MMT) is the primary source of clean, safe, and economical public transportation services in the Pikes Peak region providing over 11,000 one-way trips per day. Communities need clean, safe and economical public transportation options to help minimize greenhouse gases and wear and tear on road surfaces by reducing individual vehicle trips and ensuring transportation access for our non-driving populations including the elderly, disabled, youth and lower-income workforce.
Public transit is often the unsung hero of an individual community: supporting economic and workforce development, helping maintain and improve quality of life and ensuring a wide cross-section of community members can get where they need to go!
Our mission is to provide the best, most cost-effective public transit services to our community. In addition to bus routes within the City of Colorado Springs, Mountain Metro Transit provides service into Manitou Springs, north to the Chapel Hills Mall area, and south into the Security/Widefield area. Mountain Metro Mobility is an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) federally mandated complementary ADA paratransit service, which provides demand-response service for individuals with mobility needs that prevent them from using the fixed-route bus system. And our Mountain Metro Rides travel demand management program offers alternative transportation options to residents of the Pikes Peak Region.
The program is designed to reduce congestion and pollution by encouraging people to commute by carpool, vanpool, bicycling or walking. Every day, our team works with transit leaders around the country and world to explore the most innovative, cutting-edge transportation strategies and solutions to ensure residents of the Pikes Peak region get where they need to go.
Life doesn’t stop when you stop driving! Take control over when you travel, enjoy the freedom to go wherever you want to go, and save money. Older adults who can no longer drive, or simply prefer not to, can benefit greatly by using public transportation.
The city bus system can help facilitate independence and mobility. We take great pride in our service and you will find that our buses are a clean, safe, form of transportation. Mountain Metro is proud to offer the community a Senior Ambassador Program to help seniors get acquainted with the city bus system and establish themselves as regular riders.
Senior Ambassadors are currently available to offer one-on-one training to any new rider who is a senior. New riders interested in personalized training in the form of an actual outing on the city bus, can contact Mountain Metro to get connected with an Ambassador.
College Pass Program
The College Pass Program gives Colorado College and Pikes Peak Community College students an important transportation option with easy access to downtown Colorado Springs, local attractions, shopping and more. College students simply swipe their student I.D. cards when they board the bus. Each school pays a negotiated rate of $5.00 per registered student, per semester to join the program.
The program offers unlimited access to all regular service bus routes and offers students a great opportunity to save money, do homework or relax on the bus, utilize public transportation to get to know the community better and ride instead of drive during inclement weather.
The Mountain Metro Transit team is constantly looking for ways to improve, innovate and streamline public transportation services to better serve the riding public. Our team regularly performs rider counts to determine the most utilized routes and adjusts services to serve riders more consistently and efficiently. Working in concert with the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments, we develop comprehensive, regional transit plans to develop transit solutions based on population growth, workforce density and development and rider usage.
