New RentCafe annual survey confirms what local renters already know: Colorado Springs’ strong economy and quality of life make it a standout city to rent and live.
Recent years have seen Colorado Springs grow in popularity as a place to live. The city offers a high quality of life, with plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities and a low cost of living. This combination has made it an attractive destination for renters, and the new Best Cities for Renters in 2022 list from RentCafe reflects this trend, ranking Colorado Springs 8th among mid-sized American cities and 46th overall out of 115 candidates.
The ranking was based on a number of factors, including local economy, cost of living and housing, and quality of life.
“In addition to what it costs to live there, we also looked at the selection and quality of apartments available in each city, the quality of the neighborhoods where rentals are located, occupancy rates, opportunities for job growth, air quality; and much more,” the report states.
Colorado Springs scored particularly well in quality of life and local economy rank. The city has a relatively low cost of living and a high median income, so despite rent prices skyrocketing across the country, renters can actually afford to live here.
In addition to the strong local economy and great quality of life, there are many entertainment and recreation options available in the Springs, from hiking and biking trails to art museums, live music venues and nearby ski resorts.
In the survey overall, small and midsize cities ranked well, with the Austin, Texas, suburb of Round Rock taking the top spot. Raleigh, North Carolina, and Conroe, Texas, rounded out second and third for all cities. You can read the full “Best Cities for Renters in 2022” here.
